YES PLANT OPERATOR I
Essential Functions Statements(s):- Perform all duties of Operator I position while serving as backup plant operator roles as needed.
- Perform and assist in operations of treatment facilities to control flow and treatment of wastewater.
- Perform and follow instructions of the Operations Supervisor.
- Perform routine maintenance functions and housekeeping duties including lawn care.
- Perform and comply with safety procedures and guidelines.
- Perform any reasonable request within capabilities.
PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Competency Statement(s):- Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
- Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions in ensuring proper operations of utility equipment.
- Ability to make critical decisions that affect plant operation and compliance while following company policy and procedures.
- Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.
- Ability to read and understand gauges.
- Ability to learn and understand laboratory testing procedures including Solids Analysis, pH measurement, microscopic examination.
- Ability to document activities and conditions of equipment.
- Ability to learn operation of the Activated Sludge Treatment process and make correct operational decisions that affect effluent quality.
- Ability to learn treatment concepts and operation of satellite plants.
- Ability to learn operation of equipment such as computer-controlled pumps and sludge dewatering belt filter presses.
- Must be able to interpret data gathered for the supervisor's use plans and diagrams.
- Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
- Knowledge in basic math includes some algebra.
- Knowledge in basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to understand network of valves and piping to prevent sewerage overflows and damages to equipment.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to act in a self-confident manner to facilitate completion of safe work assignments.
