As a Collections Operator in The Villages, Florida , you'll play a vital role in maintaining and operating the wastewater collection system that serves the community. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater collection system infrastructure. You will help ensure regulatory compliance, system reliability, and exceptional service for our client and community stakeholders. You'll work alongside a dedicated operations team focused on protecting public health, supporting environmental stewardship, and providing reliable utility services to our clients and residents. Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain wastewater collection systems, including gravity sewers, force mains, manholes, and lift stations. Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting activities. Monitor and operate pumps, valves, controls, and related equipment. Respond to collection system emergencies, alarms, backups, and service interruptions. Assist with sewer cleaning, flushing, televising, and inspection programs. Perform maintenance on equipment and facilities to ensure safe and efficient operations. Complete work orders, maintenance logs, inspection reports, and regulatory documentation. Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other operational technologies. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations. Participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours emergencies as required. Support team initiatives that improve operational performance, reliability, and customer service. Knowledge of wastewater collection systems, lift stations, pumps, and related equipment preferred. Ability to read and interpret operating manuals, drawings, and maintenance procedures. Basic computer skills and experience with mobile technology for reporting and documentation. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. Ideally, You'll Also Have Ability to obtain and maintain a Florida Wastewater license, if not currently certified. Experience operating, maintaining, or repairing wastewater collection systems. Experience with CCTV inspection equipment, sewer cleaning equipment, or lift station maintenance. Knowledge of confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and other utility safety procedures. Previous utility, public works, water, or wastewater operations experience. Working Conditions Safety is a core value at Jacobs.
