Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Acetylene Plant Operator responsible for the safe operation of an acetylene production plant and the proper filling of acetylene cylinders. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely start up and shut down plant operations as required Operate and monitor plant systems during production Record operational data and maintain accurate logs Add carbide and maintain proper production levels Respond to alarms, troubleshoot issues, and take corrective action Perform visual inspections of cylinders prior to filling Safely fill acetylene cylinders, including required leak checks (100, 200, and 300 PSIG) Weigh cylinders post-fill and verify proper labeling Prepare cylinders for maintenance or requalification Perform routine and scheduled plant maintenance Safely fill Hydrogen, Chemtane, and Propane (Boise location only) Maintain a clean and organized work area Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations Report any operational issues, abnormalities, or emergencies to supervisor Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to stand for extended periods Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills Basic math skills and ability to record data accurately Basic computer skills and ability to learn relevant software Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Previous experience with industrial gases or cylinder handling preferred
