Job Description
Mago Construction Company is a family-owned construction contractor and materials producer headquartered in Bardstown, Kentucky, with asphalt plants, site grading, asphalt paving, road construction, utility construction, and aggregate operations throughout the Commonwealth. We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and safety-focused Asphalt Plant Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an asphalt plant, ensuring the production of high-quality hot mix asphalt while maintaining production schedules, equipment reliability, and compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience operating asphalt plant equipment, troubleshooting mechanical issues, maintaining quality control standards, and working collaboratively with dispatch, quality control personnel, truck drivers, and paving crews. Responsibilities Plant Operations Safely operate and monitor all asphalt plant equipment to produce quality hot mix asphalt. Monitor plant controls, production rates, temperatures, moisture content, and mix consistency to ensure products meet specifications. Adjust plant operations as necessary to maintain production efficiency and quality standards. Coordinate plant startup, shutdown, and production schedules. Maintain adequate inventory of aggregates, liquid asphalt, recycled materials, and other raw materials. Coordinate with dispatch and paving crews to meet daily production and delivery schedules. Equipment Maintenance Perform daily plant inspections and pre-operational equipment checks. Conduct preventative maintenance, including greasing, lubrication, fluid checks, adjustments, and cleaning. Identify mechanical or electrical issues and perform minor repairs when appropriate. Coordinate major repairs with maintenance personnel to minimize downtime. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe plant environment. Quality Control Monitor asphalt mix production to ensure compliance with job specifications and quality standards. Work closely with Quality Control personnel to inspect asphalt mixes and aggregate stockpiles. Assist in plant calibrations and equipment adjustments as necessary.
