Control Room Operator

Control Room Operator Are you an experienced operator with a background in power generation or industrial plant operations? Join the team at Maine Waste to Energy and help safely and efficiently operate our Waste-to-Energy Facility in Auburn, Maine. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced industrial environment with strong growth potential and hands-on operational responsibility. Key Responsibilities Monitor and operate facility systems from the central control room, including: Cranes Combustors Boilers Turbine generators Air pollution control equipment Auxiliary systems Maintain safe, reliable, and compliant facility operations in accordance with operating procedures, regulatory requirements, and permit conditions. Assist with equipment startups, shutdowns, troubleshooting, and emergency response. Perform routine operational inspections, chemical testing, and water analysis. Review operational trends and historical data to optimize plant performance. Operate facility equipment and rolling stock, including forklifts, skid steers, and trucks. Support training efforts for other operations personnel. Maintain high standards for housekeeping and plant safety. QualificationsEducation High school diploma or equivalent required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Power Engineering Technology, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred

Experience High School Diploma:

7+ years of industrial or power plant operations experience

Associate's Degree:

5+ years of relevant experience

Bachelor's Degree:

3+ years of relevant experience Licensing & Certifications Valid Maine Class C driver's license required Maine State Third Class Engineer's License required Ability to obtain Maine Second Class Engineer's License within 2 years QRO Provisional Certification required within 3 months of eligibility Ability to progress toward First Class Engineer's License within established timelines Skills & Abilities Strong communication and teamwork skills Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Strong math and analytical skills Ability to work calmly under pressure during abnormal or emergency operating conditions Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physical work in varying weather and industrial conditions Why Join Us?
