Job Description

Responsibilities:
Below are the essential duties and responsibilities of the position; other duties may be assigned as directed: Supervise the daily task and responsibilities of the asphalt plant team Operate and monitor the asphalt plant to produce quality products according to specifications Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on plant equipment Troubleshoot operational/mechanical issues and coordinate repairs as needed Coordinate and collaborate with the quality control team for meeting mix designs, specifications, and testing Maintain accurate production logs, inventory records, and compliance documentation Safely and efficiently load trucks with asphalt and communicate with truck drivers Coordinate and communicate with all vehicles, plant equipment, and trucks regarding internal traffic control requirements and needs Ensure safe operation of machinery and compliance with all safety regulations Communicate with sale team and superintendents for upcoming orders and needs (internal and FOB) Order/communicate aggregate, oil, and material needs for upcoming work Maintain stockpile inventories Keep plant area clean and organized Communicate with paving foreman and customers regarding quantity orders, cut offs, issues and production needs Have a safety-focused mentality: Always ensure and promote a safe working environment Enforce all company, OSHA and other applicable safety standards. Report on any safety concerns to supervisor Identify ways to increase efficiency at the plant and all activities related to the facility that comply with local, state, and federal regulations and industry best practices. Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, a candidate would have the following: 3-5 years of experience as an asphalt plant operator Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose equipment issues Experience in operating front-end loaders, skid steers, and other heavy equipment Basic computer skills for logging and reporting Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and training Able to work independently while having a strong attention to detail Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and ensure accuracy Experience with incident documentation, including photographic evidence and detailed reporting Ability to work early in the mornings, evenings, nights and weekends Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including exposure to construction sites and potential physical demands. Ability to Lift up to 50 pounds Must have a valid driver's license OSHA 10- & 30-hour construction safety certifications are a plus.
