24 months Job Summary The Coal Equipment Operator / Field Technician is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of coal handling and fuel supply systems within the plant. This role involves inspecting, monitoring, and operating coal handling equipment, conveyor systems, fuel transfer lines, and limestone drying process equipment. Working under general supervision, the incumbent supports installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, sampling activities, and routine operational tasks while ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational requirements. Experience & Qualifications 0 to 3 years of experience in a related industrial, mechanical, power generation, or manufacturing environment. Technical Diploma or equivalent qualification preferred. Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment and systems. Ability to follow standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and work instructions. Valid driver's license may be required based on site requirements. Key Responsibilities Provide basic field support for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of plant equipment and systems. Safely inspect, monitor, and operate coal handling systems, including conveyor systems, fuel transfer equipment, and associated plant assets. Collect, prepare, and document fuel samples in accordance with plant procedures. Operate Limestone Drying Process Equipment and related systems. Assist with routine preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Monitor equipment performance and report abnormal operating conditions to supervisors. Maintain accurate operational logs, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation. Follow all established safety, environmental, and operational procedures. Support housekeeping activities to maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Participate in training programs to enhance technical knowledge and job skills. Assist plant operations personnel as required to support reliable plant performance. Identify and communicate equipment issues or deficiencies found during inspections and work assignments. Physical Demands The physical requirements described below are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position: Frequent standing while monitoring equipment, performing inspections, and supporting maintenance activities. Frequent walking throughout the plant site, including distances of up to 800 yards at a time. Frequent walking of up to 600 feet on 15-degree inclined conveyor system walkways. Frequent sitting for computer-based work, documentation, and operation of rolling stock. Occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds, including tools, equipment parts, lubricants, and conveyor components. Occasional pushing and pulling of objects requiring up to 50 pounds of force. Full use of hands, arms, and legs to operate equipment, vehicles, valves, controls, power tools, and other plant equipment. Occasional climbing of stairs up to 10 floors and ladders up to 20 feet, including both protected and unprotected access points. Frequent climbing in and out of heavy equipment and rolling stock. Occasional access to elevated structures such as ash silos and euro silos. Continuous balance, depth perception, and field vision required for working on elevated platforms, ladders, forklifts, rolling stock, and excavators. Depth perception required when clearing coal piles and operating mobile equipment near conveyor systems. Work Environment Industrial power plant or material handling environment. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, coal dust, noise, vibration, and moving mechanical equipment. Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Must adhere to all company safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures.
Pay:
$30.00 - $31.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
