About Werner Construction Werner Construction is a family-owned heavy highway and materials company based in Hastings, Nebraska. Through Werner Construction and Werner Aggregates, we build roads, produce aggregates, and support crews across Nebraska with a large fleet of trucks, equipment, company drivers, and lease trucks.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Plant Support employee is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of Werner Construction's Concrete Division portable plants. This position works closely with the plant crew to help ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while supporting concrete production on projects throughout Nebraska. This is a hands-on position that requires frequent travel, overnight stays during the workweek, and the ability to work in changing environments. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, enjoys working outdoors, and works well as part of a small team. Previous experience in construction, concrete operations, equipment maintenance, or heavy equipment operation is beneficial but not required. Werner Construction is willing to train the right individual who demonstrates a strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
WHAT THIS ROLE OWNS
Assist with the daily operation and support of portable concrete plants. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on plant equipment to help minimize downtime. Assist with troubleshooting and basic mechanical repairs on plant equipment. Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment around the plant and equipment. Operate, or be willing to learn to safely operate, heavy equipment including loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and other equipment used to support plant operations. Safely use hand and power tools while performing maintenance and repair tasks. Work closely with plant operators and fellow crew members to achieve daily production goals. Communicate equipment concerns, maintenance needs, and operational issues with supervisors and team members. Assist with the setup, teardown, and relocation of portable concrete plants as projects begin, end, or move to new locations. Maintain a safety-first mindset by identifying and reporting hazards, following all company safety policies and procedures, and helping create a safe work environment. Perform other duties and assignments as needed to support the Concrete Division.
