Job Description
New Jersey Water Supply Authority has a full-time position for an Assistant Reservoir System Operator at our Manasquan site. Clean water is our most precious resource, and two million NJ residents depend upon us to guarantee the continuation of this resource. Our mission is to maintain and deliver a dependable supply of water, and to preserve and enhance source water quality and quantity through planning and preservation. NJWSA operates a water system in Monmouth County New Jersey, made up of the Manasquan River and Manasquan Reservoir. Twenty million gallons of untreated water is delivered daily, through a 6 mile transmission main, to three surface water treatment plants in central New Jersey. The 4.7 billion gallon Manasquan reservoir is a pumped storage impoundment with a Class 1 dam. The Assistant Reservoir Operator will be trained to monitor and control the pumping of water into the Reservoir and the release of water from the Reservoir; and will provide preventive maintenance and operational services at the Authority's Water Treatment Plant. This is a Bargaining Unit position with paid overtime and exceptional holiday, vacation, and sick time benefits. A successful candidate requires a high school diploma (or vocational school or high school equivalency), a valid drivers license, and NJ residency is required within the first year of employment. One year full time experience in the operation and/or maintenance and/or inspection of water supply facilities and equipment, or similar industrial equipment is preferred.
