Basic knowledge of state and local traffic laws, ordinances, and rules applicable to operating motorized equipment on public roadsKnowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Familiarity with city streets, rights-of-way, median layouts, drainage structuresAbility to understand and follow instructions.
Ability to work independently and make decisions.
Knowledge of City and department rules, regulations and procedures.

Ability to maintain a good attendance record.

July 2026 SUMMARY Equipment Operator I reports to the Assistant Public Works Director. Primary duty is operating roadside Tractor/Bushhog. Additional duties include collection of roadside debris, leaf collection. May also be required to perform duties of Laborer.EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITY

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Requires knowledge of practices used in the operation of light/heavy equipment, including maintenance.Knowledge of the care and use of motor vehicles.
Knowledge of the materials and equipment used in general maintenance work.
Basic knowledge of state and local traffic laws, ordinances, and rules applicable to operating motorized equipment on public roadsKnowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED.Experience in the operation of a variety of light and heavy equipment preferred.Must possess a valid Tennessee B license.
