Join Our Team:
Plant Operator or Trainee - Groundwater Operations The City of Nacogdoches Public Works Department is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our Water Utilities Division as a Plant Operator or Trainee. If you are looking for a meaningful career in public works and want to help ensure our community has access to safe, high-quality water, this is the perfect opportunity for you! In this role, you will learn to perform essential operational and maintenance functions within our Groundwater and Wastewater treatment facilities. You'll be responsible for monitoring plant equipment, conducting laboratory tests and maintaining the facilities that serve our citizens. Prior experience is preferred, but not required. We will provide the training you need to succeed.
What You'll Do:
Monitor and adjust pumps, motors and chemical feeds to ensure proper treatment processes. Collect water samples and perform standard chemical and biological laboratory tests. Record data from meters and gauges, maintaining accurate logs of plant activities. Perform preventive maintenance on buildings, grounds and specialized equipment.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED. A valid Texas Driver license. The ability to obtain a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class D Wastewater License within one (1) year of hire date. (Pay is dependent upon possession of Class A, B, C or D Wastewater License with certificate/license pay up to $200.00 per month, depending on additional license obtained) Physical ability to perform heavy work (exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally), stand, sit, kneel and work in varies indoor/outdoor environmental conditions, including exposure to chemicals and temperature extremes.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
Working knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operations, safety procedures and permitting requirements. Familiarity with standard laboratory tests and procedures. Launch your career in water and wastewater operations....... Apply Today!
