Position Overview The Batch Plant Operator controls the process to produce concrete from raw ingredients and additives according to predetermined specifications using computer batching software.

  • Verifies the correct admixtures are used in correct dosages and provided verification that the concrete batched meets the specifications established by the company and the customer.
  • Adjusts batching weights and quantities as necessary to maintain specifications.
  • Responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers.
  • Properly follow all company policies and
OSHA/MSHA
regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
  • Follow directions of Foreperson and/or plant operator as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Reliable attendance is essential in performing this role. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to produce concrete products to required specifications. Education/Experience
  • Minimum high school or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Previous related experience as a Batch Plant Operator; knowledge of mix designs, components desirable. Work Requirements
  • Verify each load for yardage, mix, added products and all other quality information.
  • Safety and efficiently operate equipment.
  • Receive and inspect raw materials.
  • Keep required records and logs.
  • Oversee the cleaning of the central mix plant.
  • Monitor inventories in the plant (cement, flyash, admixtures).
  • Thorough working knowledge of computer/batching system.
  • Define problems, collect data, and communicate with supervisor.
  • Responsible for plant maintenance and preventive maintenance. Inspect plant equipment and facilities for mechanical problems. Relay any problems to the supervisor.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements, policies, and procedures as outlined in the employee policy manual.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors/managers with other duties as requi.
