Water Operator - Operator in Training (OIT) Berkeley Springs Water Works is seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our team as an Operator in Training (OIT). This is an entry-level position that provides hands-on training in water distribution system operations, utility maintenance, meter reading, and customer service.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced staff to learn the operation, maintenance, and repair of the municipal water system while working toward obtaining required operator certifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Read and record water meters throughout the service area. Assist with locating and repairing water leaks. Install, maintain, and replace water meters. Perform maintenance on water distribution lines, valves, hydrants, and related infrastructure. Assist with service line repairs and new service installations. Respond to customer service requests regarding water service issues. Operate utility vehicles, tools, and equipment. Assist with emergency water system repairs, as needed. Participate in on-call, after-hours, weekend, and holiday work when required. Maintain safe work practices and comply with applicable regulations and policies. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED. Valid driver's license Ability to obtain a West Virginia Water Distribution Operator certification. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, digging, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods. Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in construction, utilities, public works, plumbing, maintenance, or related fields. Experience operating equipment and power tools.

Schedule:
