About the Role As a Plant Operator, you'll monitor and control the process from the board and in the field — running amine treating, sulfur recovery, CO2 handling, and the supporting utility systems. You'll make rounds, catch problems before they become upsets, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with maintenance to keep the trains running safely and on spec. What You'll Do Monitor and control plant operations from the DCS/control room and in the field, using control panels, process instrumentation, and computers Operate and adjust process variables across inlet separation, amine treating (H2S and CO2 absorption), sulfur recovery, tail gas treating, dehydration, and CO2 compression to hold product on spec Conduct regular field rounds — check equipment, take readings, pull samples, and identify abnormal conditions early Execute startups, shutdowns, and unit switches per operating procedures Troubleshoot operational upsets and coordinate with maintenance on repairs Write and support safe work permits — LOTO, confined space, hot work — and prepare equipment for maintenance Perform basic maintenance and assist with more complex maintenance activities Maintain accurate operating logs, shift turnover records, reports, and data entries Respond to alarms and emergency conditions, including H2S release scenarios, per plant emergency response procedures Participate in team meetings, safety meetings, PSM/process safety training, and required drills What You Bring Required High school diploma or GED Working knowledge of process equipment: separators, compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, towers, control valves, and fired equipment Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, gauges, and process instrumentation Willingness and physical ability to wear respiratory protection, including SCBA, and to pass annual fit testing and pulmonary evaluation Valid driver's license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (verified annually) Ability to live within a reasonable commute of Lysite, WY Preferred Prior sour gas / H2S service experience Experience with amine systems, Claus sulfur recovery units, or tail gas treating OSHA PSM-covered process experience H2S Awareness, SCBA, First Aid/CPR, and confined space certifications
