A Pre-Press Technician operates machinery or equipment used in the first stage of a printing process; makes adjustments to layout, color, images, and text before a document is sent to the press.
Prepress Operator A Southern California based printing company that provides a wide range of products and services to its clients through its grand format digital printing, sheetfed offset lithographic printing, and small format digital printing capabilities. We also compliment these capabilities with in-house metal fabrication of lightboxes and pillow frames along with kitting and fulfillment. We are currently looking to add to our team of Printing File Prep Operators. The Printing Prep Operator, or Prepress Operator, will prepare customer supplied files for printing on our grand format digital printers and our sheetfed press.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review provided files to work order to confirm all specifications are accurate to provided files. Adjust files for size, bleed, paneling, crossovers, resolution, and any other necessary adjustments to make files print ready. Work with project managers to communicate any issues with files or discrepancies with work order. Make minor changes/corrections to file content and color per directions provided by customers and project managers. Work with the Production Manager to schedule the prep workload and define priorities. Use our data collection tool to accurately clock in and out of jobs as they're being worked on. Send prepped files to our Epson proofer for proof output and review the output for accuracy. Work directly with the print department to troubleshoot RIP and print issues related to file prep. When applicable, use Kodak Prinergy to RIP files for litho printing and grand format printing. Periodically assist with file archiving and cleanup. Work closely with other prep operators to distribute workload based on operator strengths and weaknesses.
Qualifications:
Two or more years' experience as a prep operator for a printing company. Familiarity with digital grand format printing and litho printing. Experience working with RIP's such as Prinergy and Fiery. Strong attention to detail. A positive attitude when working with others. Ability to communicate effectively with employees and upper management both orally and in writing.

While performing duties of this job you are regularly required to walk, sit, stand, talk and hear. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. You must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Work Environment:
The work environment is a combination of office and manufacturing area, and may require significant time sitting at a desk, using a computer. There will occasionally be exposure to loud noise, fumes, dust and moving equipment in the manufacturing area. About the
