Job Description

We are a print shop with over 30 years of history in Denver, and we're looking for a prepress operator who can fill an open position, from both a technical and cultural perspective. Qualified candidates for this position will have previous prepress experience with a clear understanding of Offset, Digital, Large Format printing. Software and workflow skills : Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, primarily InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat. We use a PDF based workflow and output for a variety of processes. Experience with Microsoft office is helpful, however basic spreadsheet skills are essential. Experienced in a technical role related to processing incoming client files and preparing for print and digital imaging output. Experienced with imaging RIPs and familiar with best practices related to print and imaging technologies. Experienced with both digital and offset printing: preflighting, troubleshooting, artwork assembly, imposition, separation, plating (offset). Solid understanding of PDF, postscript, fonts, Pantone, halftones, resolution, vector vs. raster, etc. Experienced with project coordination and tracking, from the perspective of a prepress operator in a shop with multiple moving pieces and competing priorities. Experience with graphic design is a bonus, however graphic designers qualified for this position will have top-tier technical imaging skills geared toward print (top-tier technical prepress skills in a graphic designer typically qualify as entry-level/intermediate skills for a dedicated prepress position. We are open to all qualified candidates).

Must be able to work under critical deadlines with last minute changes, while maintaining the above-mentioned personality traits. Enthusiasm for the work we do. Math skills, specifically fractions, proportion, and geometry. Ability to visualize and track multiple parts of complex tasks. Attention to detail. Problem solving. Effective communication. Creativity in process development and problem solving both in and outside the computer. This is a fast paced position. Candidates MUST be detailed oriented. Ability to generate and proof work prior to print, willing to assist customers and co-workers as a team, in slower production times complete equipment maintenance (platemaker) and/or assist in other departments.
