A Pre-Press Technician operates machinery or equipment used in the first stage of a printing process; makes adjustments to layout, color, images, and text before a document is sent to the press.
Overview Midwest Staffing Group is hiring a Prepress Technician for a temp-to-hire opportunity with one of our valued clients! This Temp-To-Hire opportunity is responsible for reviewing, preparing, and optimizing customer artwork and electronic files for print production. This position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, experience with Adobe Creative Suite, and knowledge of print production workflows. You will work closely with customers, customer service, and production teams to ensure files are accurate, print-ready, and meet production specifications.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, from 8:00AM to 4:30PM Candidate must be willing to transition to the second shift if hired full-time. Our second shift runs roughly from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and includes a $3 per hour shift premium. Responsibilities Review customer artwork and files to ensure they are complete and print-ready. Verify colors, image resolution, bleeds, margins, and other print specifications. Prepare files to accurately match the original design. Perform preflight checks and troubleshoot file issues before production. Impose and arrange files to maximize material efficiency and production output. Convert files into printer-compatible formats and ensure proper color management. Maintain accurate file naming, documentation, and workflow records. Use Adobe Creative Suite, PitStop, and other production software to prepare and analyze files. Collaborate with production teams, customer service representatives, and clients to resolve file-related issues. Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency through automation and standardization. Follow all company policies, procedures, and quality standards. Provide professional and responsive customer service. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Associate degree in Graphic Arts or a related field preferred. Previous experience in prepress, graphic arts, print production, or a related field preferred. At least 1 year of Adobe Creative Suite experience required. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe InDesign. Experience with PitStop preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong understanding of print production workflows and prepress practices. Ability to perform detailed inspections of customer artwork. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow detailed instructions and work from templates. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Customer-focused with a strong sense of urgency and professionalism. Must be willing to transition to 2nd shift if hired full-time.
