Overview The Hockey Camera Operator is responsible for capturing high-quality live game footage for the videoboard and live stream at CURE Insurance Arena. This position works closely with the production team to provide dynamic coverage of game action, player moments, crowd reactions, and other in-game content. The Camera Operator will assist with camera and production setup, perform equipment checks, follow game scripts and production cues, and react quickly to the fast-paced nature of live hockey. This is a hands-on role that requires strong attention to detail, technical awareness, communication, and the ability to remain focused and adaptable throughout a live event. Part-Time Roles:

Responsibilities Film live hockey action throughout games, capturing key plays, player movement, and important game moments. Perform camera checks, including white balance, iris, focus, and wireless signal, to ensure optimal image quality. Assist with videoboard and live stream setup, including equipment testing and troubleshooting prior to games. Transition between shots smoothly to maintain a high-quality broadcast and ensure key plays, player actions, and crowd reactions are captured. Set up, maintain, and tear down camera equipment before and after games, ensuring all equipment is properly stored and ready for the next event. Follow game scripts and event cues to anticipate required shots while reacting quickly and instinctively to in-game moments. Communicate with the production team and camera operators throughout the game to ensure consistent coverage and execution.

Qualifications Experience:

1-4 years of experience in live sports production, videography, broadcasting, or livestreaming; prior live sports or broadcast experience preferred.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree, technical training, or coursework in broadcasting, communications, film/video production, sports media, or a related field is a plus.

Technical Knowledge:

Working knowledge of camera settings and production fundamentals, including white balance, shutter speed, aperture/iris, gain, focus, audio levels, and wireless camera systems.

Hockey Knowledge:

Basic understanding of ice hockey rules, positioning, and game flow, with a willingness to continue learning and developing hockey-specific camera skills.

Production Skills:

Ability to frame and compose shots creatively while maintaining focus on fast-moving action and following production direction.

Communication & Adaptability:

Strong communication skills, ability to remain composed in a fast-paced environment, and willingness to adapt to changing game situations and production needs.

Schedule Flexibility:

Availability to work a variable event schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and game days.
