The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality printing plates used in flexographic printing processes. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of graphic design principles, and the ability to work with precision machinery. The Plate Maker will collaborate closely with the production team to ensure that all plates meet quality standards and are delivered on time.
Essential Functions:
Operate and maintain plate-making equipment, ensuring optimal performance and quality output. Fabricate printing plates using various techniques, including screen printing and prepress processes. Utilize Adobe Creative Suite to prepare and modify graphics for plate production. Implement color management practices to ensure accurate color reproduction on printed materials. Conduct quality control checks on finished plates to identify any defects or inconsistencies. Collaborate with the graphic design team to ensure that typography and layout specifications are met. Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the plate-making process and make necessary adjustments. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Comply with all company policies, practices and procedures. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Perform other duties as assigned and must be willing to cross-train in other roles.
SUPERVISION
Routine duties are performed with moderate supervision; standard practices or procedures allow employees to complete routine work with reasonable supervision from art department; occasional work is checked while in progress; work is reviewed upon completion.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop. Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality control measures. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Proven experience in machining or plate making is preferred. Strong knowledge of prepress techniques and screen-printing processes.
NECESSARY SKILLS
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic technical aptitude for using inspection tools and data entry systems. Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, rotating shift environment
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and labels. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. Ability to follow visual and oral instructions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Well-lighted, heated but not climate controlled indoor shop environment/production setting with adequate ventilation.

The employee may work in extreme heat in the summer and cold in the winter. The employee may be exposed to dust particles and loud noise. The employee may be working around moving mechanical machinery.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus.
