POSITION OVERVIEW

We are a boutique print shop specializing in high-quality, short-run, and custom print projects. We're looking for a detail-oriented Digital Press Operator / Typesetter who can manage both prepress layout and digital production. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with design files, ensuring accuracy, and producing exceptional printed materials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepress / Typesetting Prepare and format customer-supplied files for print (Adobe Creative Suite preferred) Perform typesetting and layout adjustments for business cards, brochures, booklets, signage, and specialty items. Ensure proper bleeds, margins, color profiles, and resolution Communicate with customers or internal staff regarding file issues or improvements Digital Press Operation Operate and maintain digital printing equipment Calibrate machines for color accuracy and consistency Monitor print jobs for quality and troubleshoot issues as they arise Manage print queues and prioritize jobs to meet deadlines Finishing & Production Support Perform basic finishing tasks such as cutting, folding, binding, laminating, and packaging Assist with inventory of paper, ink, and supplies Maintain a clean and organized production area

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) Working knowledge of print production processes and file preparation Experience operating digital presses (preferred but not required—training available) Strong attention to detail and typography fundamentals Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work closely with clients and internal staff to ensure quality

PREFERRED SKILLS

Experience in a print shop or similar production environment Knowledge of color management (CMYK vs

RGB, ICC

profiles) Familiarity with Fiery or other RIP software Understanding of paper types and print finishes
