Precision Sheet Metal Manufacturing Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Press Setup Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting single-station presses and press brakes used to produce precision sheet metal components. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience with metal forming equipment, the ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings, and a strong commitment to quality. Key Responsibilities Perform complete setups on single-station presses and press brakes Install, align, and adjust dies, tooling, and fixtures for production runs Set up and operate mechanical and hydraulic presses Perform sheet metal forming and fabrication operations Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings Verify first-piece and in-process quality using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments Perform first article inspections and ensure parts meet specifications Troubleshoot tooling, machine, and forming issues to minimize downtime Make machine and tooling adjustments to maintain consistent part quality Support production teams with setup, troubleshooting, and process improvements Work closely with engineering, tooling, quality, and production personnel Perform preventative maintenance and report equipment issues Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Follow all company quality procedures, work instructions, and manufacturing requirements Participate in continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience setting up and operating single-station presses, press brakes, or similar metal forming equipment Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities Experience with sheet metal forming and fabrication Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings Experience using precision measuring equipment Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to identify and correct machine, tooling, and forming issues Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the production environment for extended periods Preferred Qualifications Experience with progressive forming Tool and die setup experience Experience with mechanical and hydraulic presses Knowledge of GD&T Experience in precision sheet metal manufacturing Experience manufacturing EMI shielding products Custom fabrication experience Experience in high-mix/low-volume manufacturing Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience Quality & Safety As a member of the company's Quality Management System, the Metal Forming Setup Technician is responsible for following all applicable quality procedures, requirements, work instructions, and documentation. The technician will contribute to quality improvement initiatives and support the company's overall quality objectives. Safety, accuracy, and consistent production of quality components are critical to this position. Physical Requirements & Work Environment This position requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and movement throughout the manufacturing facility. Employees may occasionally need to lift materials up to 50 lbs. and perform lifting at floor, waist, and overhead levels. The position is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to normal production noise and equipment.
