Fabrication Department Supervisor / Plant ManagerJob SummaryThe Steel Cutting Department Operator is responsible for the setup, programming, and operation of both CNC Plasma Cutting Tables and CNC Press Brakes . This dual-role position requires a highly skilled individual who can interpret technical drawings, safely process raw steel plates, execute precise shapes and angles, and ensure finished parts conform strictly to quality specifications.

Key Responsibilities1.

CNC Plasma Table Operation Machine Programming & Setup:

Load nesting files, select appropriate cutting profiles, and adjust gas/amperage settings based on steel material type and thickness.

Material Handling:

Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, or magnetic lifts to load heavy steel plates onto the plasma bed and remove finished parts.

Process Monitoring:

Oversee the automated cutting cycle, managing torch height control and consumables (nozzles, electrodes) to maximize cut quality and minimize dross. 2.

CNC Press Brake Operation Tooling Setup:

Select, install, and align the correct punches and V-dies according to material thickness and specified bend radiuses.

Control Programming:

Input bend sequences, back-gauge positions, and angles into the CNC interface, accounting for material stretch and spring-back.

Execution:

Form complex sheet metal and heavy plate components accurately by aligning materials perfectly against back-gauges. 3.

Quality Assurance & Maintenance Blueprint Interpretation:

Read and analyze engineering drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication bills of materials.

Part Inspection:

Utilize calipers, micrometers, protractors, and height gauges to verify that first-article and production parts match dimensional tolerances.

Equipment Maintenance:

Perform routine daily PMs (preventative maintenance), including cleaning slats on the plasma table, clearing slag, checking fluid levels, and wiping down press brake surfaces. 4. Safety & Environment Rigorously adhere to all plant safety protocols, including the correct use of PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and appropriate gloves). Actively monitor machinery safety mechanisms such as light curtains, emergency stops, and foot pedals. Maintain a clean, organized workstation to ensure safe material flow.

Work Environment & Physical Demands Physical Stamina:

Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, twist, and manually lift or maneuver steel components weighing up to 50 lbs.

Plant Conditions:

Work is performed in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, sparks, heat, and heavy machinery vibration.

Pay:
