New Albany, IN What You Will Do:

The Lead Press Brake Operator is responsible for setting up and operating hydraulic press brakes to form metal components according to blueprints, specifications, and quality requirements. This position also provides daily direction, training, and support to an additional press brake operator.

How You Will Do It:

▪ Set up and operate hydraulic press brakes to bend and form metal components.

▪ Provide daily direction, training, and oversight to an additional press brake operator.

▪ Coordinate press brake workload and job priorities based on the production schedule.

▪ Assist with machine setups, tooling selection, programming, troubleshooting, and quality issues.

▪ Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, work instructions, and bend specifications.

▪ Select, install, and align the correct punches, dies, and tooling for each job.

▪ Enter and adjust machine settings, including bend angles, dimensions, material thickness, and back-gauge positions.

▪ Verify material type, thickness, grain direction, and part orientation before forming.

▪ Perform first-piece inspections and make adjustments as necessary before continuing production.

▪ Measure completed parts using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, protractors, and other inspection equipment.

▪ Maintain required tolerances and identify, contain, and report parts that do not meet specifications.

▪ Monitor productivity and ensure completed parts meet schedule and quality expectations.

▪ Communicate performance, quality, staffing, tooling, or equipment concerns to management.

▪ Complete production paperwork and accurately record quantities, scrap, rework, and job information.

▪ Monitor tooling and machine condition and report maintenance or repair needs.

▪ Safely handle sheet metal and finished components using appropriate material-handling equipment.

▪ Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.

▪ Follow and reinforce all company safety procedures, quality standards, and work instructions.

▪ Perform other manufacturing duties as assigned.

The Position Requires:

▪ Previous press brake operating experience.

▪ Experience performing press brake setups and tooling changeovers.

▪ Ability to read and understand blueprints and fabrication drawings.

▪ Ability to accurately use measuring and inspection equipment.

▪ Working knowledge of bend angles, material thicknesses, tolerances, part orientation, and material springback.

▪ Ability to perform basic shop math, including fractions, decimals, and angle calculations.

▪ Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot forming and equipment issues.

▪ Ability to provide direction, training, and constructive feedback to another operator.

▪ Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and a commitment to quality and teamwork.

▪ Five or more years of press brake operating experience is preferred.

▪ CNC-controlled hydraulic press brake experience preferred.

▪ Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum preferred.

▪ Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.

▪ Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and work safely around moving equipment, sharp metal edges, noise, oils, and changing temperatures.
