CNC Press Brake Operator Job Description The CNC Press Brake Operator is responsible for operating a press brake machine to bend aluminum and steel components accurately according to required specifications. This position requires setting up the machine based on material type, thickness, and required bend angles; reading drawings, schematics, and specifications; and accurately recording labor time in the ERP system. The operator will also support secondary operations within the laser cell, including drilling, tapping, countersinking, sanding, grinding, and stacking parts on pallets. Once parts are completed, the operator is responsible for moving them to the next phase of production. Training is available for candidates without prior press brake experience; however, previous experience operating a press brake and reading blueprints or technical specifications is preferred. Requirements The CNC Press Brake Operator must be able to perform the following duties and meet the following requirements: Read both imperial and metric tape measures accurately. Operate and perform basic preventative maintenance on press brake equipment and support equipment, including a Bridgeport knee mill for drilling, countersinking, and related operations. Use rivet-nut installation tools safely and effectively. Read blueprints, specifications, and schematics, and use a computer to accurately record labor time against assigned work orders. Communicate professionally with Project Managers and CAD design personnel when clarification is needed on assigned orders. Stand for extended periods during the work shift. Lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively throughout the shift. Support the laser cutting cell with secondary operations, including drilling and sanding parts such as bases, panels, and related components. Assist the laser operator with loading and unloading the laser as needed. Use power drills, vernier calipers, belt sanders, tapping machines, and other shop tools, and demonstrate a willingness to learn backup responsibilities for the laser and waterjet operators.
