Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Press Brake Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is specifically for individuals skilled in operating older, non-CNC press brake machines—not CNC-controlled equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience setting up and running mechanical press brakes, selecting proper tooling, and forming sheet metal to precise specifications without computer programming. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints and measuring tools accurately, and a deep understanding of bend allowances, tolerances, and manual machine setup. You will play a key role in producing high-quality fabricated components in a fast-paced environment focused on craftsmanship and safety. Responsibilities Set up and operate mechanical (non-CNC) press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal according to specifications. Determine and select the correct dies and tooling for each job based on material type, thickness, and required bends. Calculate and apply bend allowance, bend deduction, and tolerances to achieve accurate finished parts. Manually adjust machine settings, back gauges, and stops to ensure precise forming without CNC programming. Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine forming sequences and specifications. Use measuring tape, calipers, and other inspection tools to verify part dimensions throughout production. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical press brake equipment. Conduct quality checks to ensure parts meet required tolerances and drawing specifications. Maintain a clean and safe work environment following all safety procedures. Collaborate with team members to improve processes and production efficiency. Important Position Note This is NOT a CNC press brake position. Candidates MUST have experience with manual/mechanical press brakes and be comfortable performing setups and adjustments without computer programming. Skills & Qualifications Proven experience operating mechanical (non-CNC) press brakes Strong understanding of tooling selection (dies) and setup procedures Knowledge of bend allowances, tolerances, and material behavior Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Proficiency using measuring tape and basic inspection tools Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Familiarity with shop math and measurements Commitment to safety and quality workmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a team
