This position involves bending, rolling, and forming heavy steel plate, including hardened and abrasion-resistant materials such as AR500. This is heavy plate fabrication—not light-gauge sheet-metal work. Responsibilities Set up and operate press brakes to bend and form heavy steel plate Roll plate to specified radii, curves, and shapes Form hardened and abrasion-resistant plate, including AR500 Select the proper tooling and determine appropriate setup procedures Read fabrication drawings, specifications, and measurements Calculate bend locations, angles, and allowances Use overhead cranes to position, support, and remove heavy plate during bending and rolling Inspect formed parts for correct dimensions, angles, and radii Use tape measures, squares, templates, and other measuring tools Identify material springback and make necessary adjustments Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance Work safely around heavy materials and industrial machinery Assist with other fabrication duties as needed Qualifications Previous press brake experience in a heavy fabrication environment is required Experience bending and forming heavy plate is strongly preferred Experience with AR500 or other hardened plate is preferred Plate-rolling experience is preferred Overhead-crane experience is required or must be learned quickly Ability to read fabrication drawings and accurately measure parts Knowledge of tooling, bend allowances, springback, and safe setup practices Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Dependable, punctual, and committed to safe work practices This position is best suited for someone with heavy plate and structural fabrication experience. Applicants whose experience is limited primarily to light-gauge sheet metal may not be a good fit.
Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
