Description FUNTION:
Layout and bore or grind a wide variety of jigs, fixtures and limited number of parts for jigs, fixtures, machines or instruments to very close tolerances (.0002), working from blueprints or drawings.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Make all necessary setups and adjustments to obtain required results with only general supervision. Instruct and/or direct lower class operators in performing the foregoing functions. Must have knowledge of practical shop mathematics and trigonometry. Must be capable & willing to identify opportunities for improvement in tooling, cutting methods, mistake proofing & work instruction documentation. Must possess a skill level that eliminates errors that cause nonconforming material and maintain a consistent level of high quality work. Identify non-conformances at time of occurrence. Recognize opportunities for non-conformances and notify management of need for action. Refer difficulties to leader or supervisor as appropriate. Actively participate in various aspects of Continuous Improvement projects which may include but is not limited to 5S, TPM, kaizen events, and set-up reduction events, which is aligned with the commitment to continuous improvement activities in Article II of the collective bargaining agreement. Identify, recommend, and participate in opportunities to improve environmental health and safety practices throughout the shop. Must be capable & willing to assist or train other employees in this or lower classifications as needed. May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department or cell objectives and to develop individuals' skills.
