Job Description

Manages the reproduction and printing of instructional, administrative, and operational materials with responsibility for personnel, budget management, project cost, physical inventory, and MFP and single printer operation management. This position may require working after regular business hours. Responsible for managing all operational activities of Campus Printing & Signs, pricing, inventory, quality control, office supply orders, and any activity requiring funding or disbursements, including but not limited to written reports, goal setting, and periodic review of the department's revenue and expense statements. 2. Prepares and manages the Campus printing & Signs Request for Proposal (RFP) process and closely monitors terms of contracts to ensure monthly billing is timely and correct, and vendors conform to terms of contracts. 3. Participates in campus and college committees and task forces. Attends professional conferences. 4. Guides and motivates all employees within the department; establishes schedules, assigns tasks, monitors progress of projects, reviews finished projects and evaluates performance. 5. Approves all projects prior to production and presentation to customers. 6. Maintains and assists the production process to insure that the quality of finished products and target dates are achieved. 7. Consults with faculty, administrative staff, and marketing services regarding cost estimates, job requests and/or special projects. 8. Plans, organizes and implements procedures required to effectively operate the Campus Printing Center and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. 9. Reviews weekly inventory of supplies and orders as necessary. 10. Coordinates all pre-press and printing processes with outside vendors and marketing services. 11. Manages the department budget, justifies expenses, monitors accounts and receivables, approves expenditures. 12. Monitors the printing charges of various outside vendors. 13. Works with the Director to research and recommend selection of equipment, software and processes. 14. Manages the support of all MFP's, student copiers, and lab printer across all campuses. 15. Actively solicits new Print Shop projects to CPCC faculty and staff. 16. Performs other duties as assigned. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with 2-3 years industry experience or an Associate Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Graphic Arts or 3-5 years' experience in graphic arts or printing with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
  • Working knowledge of all printing, binding, and pre-press / design processes
  • Skilled in the operation of various reproduction equipment
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of all related printing/copying equipment
  • Supervisory and leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Basic math skills and basic knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles
Working Conditions:
Light physical effort required involving stooping, bending, and occasional lifting of objects up to 25 pounds; infrequently twisting or bending at the waist or reaching overhead; infrequently traveling between buildings on campus or to other campuses; frequently listening to and talking with students, faculty and other staff members either in person or by telephone; infrequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a computer display, keyboard, and mouse; some minor discomfort due to occasional noise, and limited working space.
