Job Description
SUMMARY Set up, operate, and maintain conventional, and special purpose, manual machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts supporting production. Manufacture fixtures, jigs, and replacement parts for repairs. Support production in all aspects of production & in-process inspection. Collaborate with other departments across the organization to develop solutions to increase productivity and establish processes to produce quality products that are delivered on time. Must be able to work independently in a manual machining tool room environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following:- Studies blueprints to determine sequence of operations and finished dimensions of work piece.
- Lifts, locates, secures, and verifies positions of work piece in fixtures, jigs, vices, tombstones, and table.
- Selects tooling and materials for each project.
- Decides best process and machine for each project.
- Adjust feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cuts, and tooling offsets.
- Mounts tooling in spindle, monitors tooling wear, sets tooling positions in relation to the work piece.
- Verifies alignment of work piece.
- Performs quality checks, AQL's, & in-process inspections.
- Recommends Continuous Improvement Initiatives for work area to supervisor.
- Cross training between work centers and cells.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Other duties may be assigned.
