JOB SUMMARY
- The person who occupies this position is responsible for assisting Press
- 1st Operator with running printing press and with maintaining top quality printing. Press
- 2 nd Operatorunderstand and align business operations and Finishing Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- _Job functions include, but are not limited to, the following._ + To assist Press
- 1st Operator with maintaining quality of printed sheets. Examine for proper color, register, copy, position and detect unnecessary markings per the Printing Department Control Plan. + To assist the Press
- 1st Operator with determining the cause of printing problems and adjust press to correct these issues.
- 1st Operator or Feeder when needed in order to keep press running. + Assist with monthly Preventative Maintenance which includes cleaning, greasing and oiling the press. Rollers are changed when necessary.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
- + Manufacturing experience preferred + Mechanical/technical aptitude + Entry Level Computer skills + Must have Feeder/Operator experience. + Must be flexible: Able to work all shifts, overtime and weekends when needed. + Must be able to speak, read and write English. Need to have basic math skills. Mechanical aptitude a plus. Must have working knowledge of a printing press.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
- + Schedules are up to 8 or 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. + Some Departments/Jobs may run a M-F 8-hour Shift Schedule. + Must be willing and able to work overtime.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- with the performance of the functions of this job: + Standing, walking, lifting (up to 40 lbs.
- with the performance of the functions of this job: + While press is running, position requires physical ability to pull loaded pallet from press (weighing between 1500 and 2000 lbs.) with hand truck. + While press is running, position requires ability to lift empty pallets (weighing 25-90 lbs.) from stack and placing them at bottom of press with assistance. + Press
- 2nd Operator vision must be acute at short distances (20 inches or less) in order to inspect quality of printing sheets.
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software:
+ Printing press, CPC (color printer control) for Heidelberg Press, Logitronics, Densitometer, PEAK, SAP, Printing Department specific tools. + Work in areas of fluctuating temperature. + Inside Conditions noise (from printing presses and forklifts), vibration, odors and dust.SAFE QUALITY FOOD RESPONSIBILITES FOR ALL EMPLOYEES
