  • Job Title: Maintenance Technician
  • Job Description
  • This role is for a Maintenance Technician working in a GMP food manufacturing environment producing marshmallow products.

You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production machinery and building equipment, ensuring reliable operation of plant process and utility equipment. The position requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to safety and quality in a regulated manufacturing setting.

  • Responsibilities
  • + Respond to repair requests for production machinery and building equipment across all facility areas.

+ Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues and perform appropriate repairs to return machinery to satisfactory running condition.

+ Work from drawings, schematics, blueprints, job layouts, and written or verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately.

+ Perform moderate to complex adjustments, maintenance, and repairs to plant equipment such as bagging machines, conveyors, case erectors, kitchen equipment, and utility equipment.

+ Carry out basic rebuilding of gearboxes, motors, and small pneumatic equipment.

+ Analyze existing equipment problems and help develop innovative solutions to improve reliability and performance.

+ Unload powdered and liquid raw materials from rail cars as needed, following all safety and quality procedures.

+ Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on plant process and utility equipment, including lubrication, filter replacement, and equipment inspection.

+ Assist with equipment installations and upgrades for bagging machines, conveyors, kitchen equipment, and utility equipment.

+ Use hand tools and power tools safely while performing maintenance, repair, and installation tasks.

+ Follow GMP and food safety guidelines while working on production and packaging equipment.

+ Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to minimize downtime and support efficient operations.

+ Document maintenance activities as required and communicate equipment status to relevant stakeholders.

  • Essential Skills
  • + Strong troubleshooting skills in both mechanical and electrical systems.

+ Experience with mechanical and electrical maintenance in an industrial environment.

+ Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.

+ Strong ability in electrical maintenance, including 3-phase motors, variable frequency drives, controls, and electrical troubleshooting.

+ Hands-on experience with industrial maintenance repair and electrical maintenance.

+ Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely.

+ Ability to work with conveyors, bagging machines, packaging machinery, motors, gearboxes, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

+ Capability to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights including rooftops and silos, and safely lift up to 70 pounds.

+ Foods/GMP experience or the ability to work effectively in a GMP-regulated food manufacturing environment.

+ High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education.

  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • + Vocational training or an AA/AS degree in a related field is a plus.

+ Industrial maintenance experience is preferred.

+ Food industry or confectionery manufacturing experience is a plus.

+ PLC troubleshooting experience is desirable.

+ Familiarity with robotics and automated packaging equipment is beneficial.

+ Experience with vertical bagging and scale equipment is a plus.

+ Familiarity with the Allen-Bradley control platform is a plus.

+ Ability to assist with installation and upgrades of industrial equipment.

+ Strong attention to safety and adherence to GMP and quality standards.

+ Willingness to work third shift (overnight) on a consistent schedule.

  • Work Environment
  • This position is on third shift, working 11:00 p.

m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. The role is based in a very clean GMP food manufacturing environment that can become somewhat hot and a little loud at times, but is overall comfortable. You will work around production and packaging equipment such as bagging machines, conveyors, kitchen equipment, and utility systems. The site operates with approximately 60 employees at the Bensenville facility and about 60 employees at the Elk Grove Village facility, providing a close-knit team atmosphere within a larger, established organization. Appropriate work attire is required to meet safety and GMP standards.

  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $26.

00 - $33.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
