opportunity with NO temp-to-hire or probationary period•Position Overview:
The Flexo Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a multi-color flexographic printing press to print on paperboard stock for folding cartons and related packaging. The operator is responsible for meeting color, registration, and quality specifications while maximizing efficiency, minimizing waste, and maintaining food-safety and hygiene standards throughout production.Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret work instructions and specifications for each job
- Set up presses for each job: mount dies, cyrel plates on print repeats, load and register the correct die, load proper roll stock, and set up the splicer to splice the next roll
- Fill and maintain ink levels in the fountains
- Start the press, adjusting speed, tension, and alignment of printing plates as necessary
- Match color to approved proofs and standards using a densitometer along with visual inspection; must be able to differentiate between colors
- Inspect samples for imperfections such as blurred of off-center impressions
- Monitor the run continuously for defects such as misregistration, color drift, dot gain, and missing print
- Manage inline operations where applicable, including coating, die-cutting, and scoring
- Perform efficient changeovers to minimize makeready time and material waste
- Clean cyrel plates, cylinders, fountains, and lubricate the press as needed
- Track production counts, waste, and downtime; maintain accurate quality and production records
- Follow all safety procedures and housekeeping standards
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for food-contact packaging at all times.
Observe personal hygiene rules:
clean uniforms, hair nets, beard nets, handwashing, no jewelry, and no food, drink, gum or tobacco in production zones.Qualifications & Skills:
- 2 years of experience operating a flexographic printing press
- Strong color perception (color-vision screening common) and an eye for fine details and graphics
- Good math and basic computer skills
- Ability to read work instructions, take precise measurements, and perform basic math
- Mechanical aptitude for makeready and troubleshooting
- Ability to lead a team of people
- Comfortable standing for full shifts and lifting 50lbs
Schedule:
2nd shift, 4pm-2am Monday-Thursday Occasional Friday overtime.Compensation:
$22- $28 /hour (approximately $45,760
- 58,240 annually)
