Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Skyline is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Mobile Equipment Operator. This role serves as a vital part of the facility's production team and is responsible for safely moving, handling, loading, unloading, and preparing materials for shipment in the yard. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Reads work orders or follows verbal instructions to determine materials to be moved. Receives items for shipment and visually inspects them for identity, quantity, and condition. Checks for obvious damage and segregates items requiring special handling. Loads and unloads materials from trucks/railcars using a forklift or other material-handling equipment. Installs strapping or bracing as needed to prevent shifting or damage during transit. Counts specific materials during cycle counts. Identifies all shipments with proper marking and labeling, including any special handling instructions. Conducts daily safety and equipment checks. Operates machinery such as banding, taping, and sealing equipment. The Mobile Equipment Operator will be an integral member of the Nucor Skyline team. This position requires a strong and consistent work ethic, a commitment to continuous improvement, and effective communication skills to coordinate with other departments. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team. They must also be willing and able to work overtime as operating conditions require. Safety must remain at the forefront of every task performed to support the continued success of the Nucor Skyline team. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience operating a forklift or mobile/heavy equipment Experience reading and interpreting work orders
Preferences:
