A Production Fabricator or Assembler constructs and assembles a wide range of products, such as engines, computers, aircraft, ships, boats, toys, electronic devices, and control panels, as well as the individual parts that make up these products.
The Assembly Technician at GSI International is responsible for the assembly of various components per customer and in-house specifications. You will be accountable for the quality and accuracy of every assembly you touch and are expected to provide input that improves our quality systems and the processes you support. This is a hands-on role for someone with mechanical skills, blueprint literacy, and the maturity to perform in a fast-paced, precision environment.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Completing every assembly to print zero ambiguity about what the spec says and zero shortcuts getting there. Using power tools, deburring equipment, and measuring instruments correctly and safely every shift. Maintaining a clean, organized work area and moving parts to the next operation without delays. Flagging quality concerns immediately rather than passing a questionable part downstream. Contributing ideas that improve the assembly process the people closest to the work often have the best solutions.
OBJECTIVES
Assemble components per customer specifications, engineering drawings, and in-house work orders. Read and interpret blueprints and assembly drawings, understanding conformance to customer requirements. Operate power tools (handheld and fixed), perform drilling, reaming, trimming, deburring, and helicoil installation. Prepare components for painting, apply protective finishes, and perform sandblasting as required. Use measuring instruments including calipers and scales to verify dimensional conformance. Maintain a clean work area throughout the shift and move completed assemblies to the next operation. Comply with all applicable safety requirements and regulatory standards.
COMPETENCIES
Assembly & Mechanical Skills:
Demonstrated ability to assemble mechanical components to print. Comfortable with a wide range of hand and power tools and understands how they are used correctly.
Blueprint Reading:
Reads and interprets engineering drawings and assembly schematics. Understands conformance requirements and identifies critical characteristics on the print.
Precision & Quality:
Takes ownership of the quality of every assembly. Uses measuring tools to verify conformance and does not pass a non-conforming part to the next operation.
Tool Proficiency:
Skilled in the use of power tools, drill press, deburring tools, and helicoil equipment. Understands proper technique and safety for each tool used. Soldering requirements, and utilization of electronic inspection tools. (ohmmeter)
Safety & Compliance:
Follows all shop safety protocols, PPE requirements, and regulatory standards without exception. Works safely around moving parts and hazardous materials.
REQUIREMENTS
Required:
Ability to read blueprints and understand assembly drawings Experience operating power tools and hand tools in a manufacturing environment Ability to deburr, drill, ream, trim, and perform helicoil installation Familiarity with measuring instruments — calipers, scales Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred:
Experience in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing assembly Familiarity with
