Job Title:
Assembler Job Description The Assembler fabricates and assembles a variety of mechanical assemblies and supporting hardware, applying knowledge of assembly techniques and using precision instruments, hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment. This role reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, work orders, and related documentation to determine the method and sequence of operations, as well as dimensional and finish specifications. The Assembler also assumes responsibility for maintaining accurate inventory and supporting production goals for quality, on-time delivery, and cost. Responsibilities Assemble and calibrate production parts in accordance with documented procedures and quality standards. Locate and interpret assembly drawings, blueprints, ATPs, specifications, and work instructions to understand requirements and assembly steps. Complete all required production paperwork, including travelers, pull sheets, and shipment forms, with accuracy and attention to detail. Lift and handle materials and test manifolds, including items weighing at least 30 pounds, following safe material-handling practices. Mix ingredients, primers, adhesives, and sealants according to specified formulas and process requirements. Trim, drill, ream, grind, sand, and finish parts using templates, hand tools, and power tools as required to meet dimensional and finish specifications. Ensure all assemblies comply with customer specifications and requirements, including shipping details and documentation. Support achievement of quality, on-time delivery, and cost goals across assigned production lines or cells. Use E10 transactions and job-related dashboards, including part and job trackers, to record work, track progress, and maintain accurate inventory and production data. Assemble multiple products within a production cell or across multiple lines as indicated by training and qualification matrices. Inspect all final products to verify compliance with customer requirements, internal standards, and shipping details prior to release. Assist the team in evaluating trends in labor standards, costs, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity. Provide support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Complete all required training and remain current with updated procedures, safety protocols, and quality requirements. Adhere to corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and task-specific safety protocols, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Perform other duties, reporting, special assignments, or projects as needed and assigned to support production and operational objectives. Essential Skills 1-2 years of manufacturing assembly experience required, with 3+ years preferred in a regulated industry such as aerospace. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, schematics, ATPs, specifications, and work instructions. Strong technical and mechanical aptitude, with experience in mechanical assembly and assembly line work. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for trimming, drilling, reaming, grinding, sanding, and finishing parts. Ability to meet deadlines, plan work accordingly, and support on-time delivery performance. Basic computer skills, including working with production systems such as E10 transactions and job-related dashboards. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently. Goal-oriented mindset focused on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean manufacturing concepts. Ability to perform manual lifting activities up to 40 pounds and to use stairs, remain upright and/or seated for prolonged periods, and reposition the body as required by various tasks. Willingness and ability to submit to and satisfactorily pass any required pre-employment screening. Ability to complete medical examinations required by law related to occupation-specific activities and the physical work environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Comfort working in a regulated manufacturing environment, such as aerospace. Attention to detail in completing travelers, pull sheets, shipment forms, and production documentation. Familiarity with inventory control and tracking of parts and jobs. Ability to support multiple product lines or cells as training and qualifications expand. Commitment to staying current with required training and updated procedures. Strong awareness of safety practices and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing environment that involves mechanical assembly, use of hand and power tools, and interaction with production equipment and test manifolds. Work requires reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions, and performing tasks such as mixing primers, adhesives, and sealants, as well as trimming, drilling, reaming, grinding, sanding, and finishing parts. The role may require using stairs, remaining upright or seated for extended periods, and repositioning the body to perform various assembly tasks. Manual lifting up to 40 pounds may be required, and employees must follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The standard schedule is 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, from 2:00 pm to 12:00 am, with training initially provided on 1st shift. A shift differential applies for the 2nd shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tempe, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
