Job Description

Performs complex production assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies and aircraft systems, equipment and accessories using manual or automated assembly tools.

The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in support of fabrication, integration and test of space flight systems and support equipment. Position Responsibilities Assembles, installs, tests, checks out and inspects mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures Performs second party verifications and visually inspects mechanical assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures Operates various materials handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lift equipment, flight vehicle and sub-assembly transportation equipment, truck/tractor trailer combinations and other GSE as required Operates a wide range of machine tools. Included but not limited to, drill press, grinders, chop saw, power, and hand tools Interfaces and/or works closely with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement and Shipping personnel on procedural issues involving design, methods, tooling, cost, and other areas involved in the control of product quality Supports in other mechanical areas defined by Millennium Space Systems Leadership as business needs require Cross-trains/mentors new hires
