We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary:

Performs setup, programming, and operation of manual and CNC equipment including mills, lathes, routers, and grinders to machine composite tooling and hardware components.

Reads and interprets engineering drawings, work instructions, and CAD models to ensure accurate machining of complex geometries to tight tolerances.

Monitors machining processes, inspects parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and height gauges, and makes necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.

Trains and mentors apprentice and junior machinists on best practices, safety, and proper use of equipment.

Troubleshoots and resolves machining issues, optimizing tool paths, fixturing, and workholding strategies.

Ensures machine and tool maintenance schedules are followed and performs minor maintenance or repairs to minimize downtime.

Maintains an organized and efficient work area following lean manufacturing principles including 5S and continuous improvement.

Assists with fixture and tooling development for custom composite layup molds or production hardware.

Applies knowledge of machining practices and materials including aluminum, steel, and composite tooling board.

Performs Quality Control on finished products to ensure they meet specified performance standards and tolerances.

Requirements:

Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

Extensive experience as a machinist in a high-precision manufacturing environment.

Strong proficiency with manual and CNC machinery; experience with HAAS, Fadal, or similar controls preferred.

Ability to read and interpret GD&T, blueprints, and engineering documentation.

Proficient with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and height gauges.

5-10 years of experience in a similar machinist role.

Preferred:

Technical training or certifications in machining or CNC operations.

Preferred:

Specific composites and aerospace industry experience.

Experience with composite tooling or aerospace components preferred.

Ability to program CNC equipment when required for machining tasks.
