Our machines go out to manufacturers, engineering teams, and R D shops across North America who use them as real production tools, not prototyping toys. We're a small team in a real shop in Potrero Hill, and demand for our machines is outpacing what we can build. That's why this role exists. The role You'll work directly alongside our manufacturing lead, learning the build from the ground up and taking over more of it as you go. This is a hands-on shop-floor job. If you like precision mechanical work, take pride in things being square and clean and correct, and want to actually understand the machine you're building rather than just repeating a step, you'll do well here. What you'll do Assemble mechanical subassemblies: motion systems, extruder and hotend assemblies, frames, enclosures, and panels Route and terminate wiring harnesses; crimp connectors and manage cable runs Follow build documentation and assembly procedures accurately, and flag the steps that don't make sense Square, align, tram, and calibrate motion systems to spec Run functional tests and test prints on completed machines; troubleshoot what fails Keep organized: track parts, inventory, and consumables so builds don't stall waiting on a bin Help improve the process. You'll spot the awkward steps before anyone else does, and we want to hear about them What we're looking for We care much more about how you work than about what's on your resume. Strong mechanical aptitude. You're comfortable with hand tools, hex drivers, torque specs, and reading a drawing or exploded view Careful and consistent. Repetitive precision work doesn't bore you into sloppiness Able to follow a documented procedure exactly, and to notice when something is off rather than forcing it Good with your hands at a small scale — fasteners, connectors, belts, bearings, tight tolerances Reliable and on time. With a team this small, one person not showing up is a real problem Able to lift ~50 lbs and be on your feet for a full shift Authorized to work in the United States Nice to have (genuinely optional) Previous mechanical assembly, production, or manufacturing experience Hands-on 3D printing experience — you've built, modded, or tuned a printer Wiring, crimping, soldering, or basic electromechanical assembly Bike mechanic, automotive, machining, MRO, aviation, robotics, or similar precision hands-on background Familiarity with CAD, technical drawings, or basic shop tools Trades training or a technical certificate (CCSF, Laney, College of Alameda, or similar) If you've built and tuned your own printer in your bedroom and never worked in a factory, apply anyway. That's a real signal to us.
