Job description Commercial Van Interiors, Inc. has been providing quality upfits (installing shelving, ladder racks, and electronics for commercial vans and trucks) for over 41 years. See our website at www.commercialvan.com Summary/Objective The Inventory Handler / Assembler supports daily branch operations by receiving, storing, organizing, and issuing inventory while also assisting with the assembly and installation preparation of commercial vehicle interior components. This position helps maintain accurate inventory records, stages materials for production, perform basic assembly tasks, and supports a safe, organized, and efficient workflow for the production team. The position follows standard work methods, work orders, manufacturer instructions, and safety procedures to ensure materials are available, assemblies are completed accurately, and the shop and warehouse areas remain clean, productive, and safe. Receive, inspect, verify, and store incoming materials, parts, and components according to purchase orders, packing slips, work orders, and manufacturer part numbers. 2. Pick, stage, and issue parts, kits, and materials needed for vehicle upfit production, assembly work, installations, and customer orders. 3. Maintain accurate inventory levels by stocking materials, performing cycle counts, identifying discrepancies, and communicating inventory issues to management. 4. Assemble, fit, and prepare components using hand tools, power tools, fasteners, templates, work instructions, and basic measurements as required for production or installation support. 5. Verify assembled parts and staged materials for correct part numbers, quantities, condition, fit, and quality before releasing them to production or installation areas. 6. Support shipping and receiving responsibilities, including loading and unloading deliveries, preparing outbound materials, labeling parts, and maintaining receiving records. 7. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and other material handling equipment safely and according to company procedures. 8. Assist the Branch Manager and production team with inventory organization, Lean storage practices, process improvement, and efficient material flow. 9. Maintain shop, warehouse, and lot housekeeping to support a clean, organized, professional, and safe environment for employees and customers. 10. Use basic computer programs, email, inventory systems, scanners, or spreadsheets to update records, locate materials, and document inventory activity as needed. 11. Inspect tools, equipment, products, and material handling equipment for defects, damage, or safety concerns and report repair needs or quality issues to management. 12. Follow all company safety policies, wear required personal protective equipment and operate company tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner. 13. Assist with production tasks, installations, product preparation, and other branch duties as assigned to support customer deadlines and business needs. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Work area can be exposed to extreme temperatures (highs and lows). Hours Worked 40 hours per week, Occasional Overtime. Hourly Pay based on experience. Reports to Branch Manager Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; kneel; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The position involves sitting, walking and lifting less than 50 pounds for long periods of time throughout the day. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and hours and days of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional overtime may be required. Required Education and Experience 1. Must be at least 18 years old with a valid state driver's license and clean driving record. 2. Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check. 3. Must be able to read, understand, and follow detailed written work orders, assembly instructions, diagrams, measurements, and safety procedures. 4. Minimum of 1 year of warehouse, inventory, material handling, assembly, production, or related hands-on work experience preferred. Forklift experience or certification is a plus. Preferred Education and Experience 1. Previous experience with inventory control, shipping and receiving, warehouse organization, vehicle upfitting, production assembly, or installation support. 2. High school diploma or equivalent education preferred. Basic computer, email, inventory system, measurement, and hand/power tool experience preferred. Travel Only local travel is required for this position.
