Sr. Assembly & Testing Technician

About PIE Scientific:
PIE Scientific specializes in designing and manufacturing laboratory scale plasma systems for applications in plasma etching, cleaning, surface treatment, and ion/electron beam production. Our systems serve a wide range of industries, including semiconductors, biomedical, and electronics, as well as Universities and national laboratories. As a small but rapidly growing business, PIE Scientific operates a manufacturing facility located in Union City, CA, where innovation and precision are at the core of everything we do.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Equipment Manufacturing and Testing Technician to join our team. In this role, you will assemble and test laboratory-scale vacuum plasma equipment, contributing directly to the quality and reliability of our advanced systems. Detail:
Exceptional focus on small details is essential. Success in this role requires precision and accuracy.
Electronics Knowledge:
Familiarity with electronic components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, voltage regulators, etc.) and an understanding of DC and AC voltage principles. Proficiency in using multimeters for measuring voltage, current, and resistance.
Technical Skills:
Strong soldering skills, including working with PCB surface-mount and through-hole components. Experience building cables and wires with connectors, such as soldering D-sub connectors. Ability to work with small tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, tabletop drill, bandsaw, etc.). Experience assembling mechanical components.
Computer Proficiency:
Ability to use Windows PCs, office software, and ERP systems for documentation and task management.
Physical Requirements:
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs during testing and assembly. Comfortable driving to work daily in Union City, CA.
Communication Skills:
Albe to read, write, and communicate in English.
Responsibilities:
Inspect components for quality before assembly. Assemble instruments to specifications, identifying and correcting defects as needed. Conduct functional performance tests on finished products. Organize and sort components efficiently in the workspace. Monitor supply levels and inform management when stock runs low. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
