The Shop Technician Fabricator is responsible for assembling, fabricating, and preparing fire and life safety system components for installation and service. This role supports field operations by ensuring all fabricated materials meet quality standards, job specifications, and applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Hours for the role are Monday to Friday 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Fabricate and assemble fire protection system components, including pipe, brackets, and system assemblies. Interpret precise dimensions using a tape measure and execute mechanical tasks to specification. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders. Prepare materials for delivery to job sites and ensure accuracy of fabricated items. Maintain shop equipment, tools, and machinery in proper working condition. Perform quality checks to ensure compliance with NFPA standards and company specifications. Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment. Track material usage and notify management of shortages or discrepancies. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned by management.
Education/Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of fabrication, mechanical, or construction experience preferred. Experience with pipe fabrication, threading, and grooving equipment preferred. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Basic math and measurement skills. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the day. Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred:
Experience in fire protection or life safety systems and familiarity with NFPA standards.
Other Duties:
Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50+ lbs regularly. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Use of hands and arms for handling tools, materials, and operating fabrication equipment.
Pay:
$18 to $22 Depending on certifications and experience. Weekly pay.
