Job Description Position Overview:
The Fabricator & Installer is a high-skill, hands-on role responsible for designing, fabricating, and installing machine guarding and custom mechanical solutions to improve workplace safety and equipment functionality. This position requires advanced welding and fabrication skills, experience with plasma cutting and structural assembly, and the ability to engineer solutions in collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and safety teams. The role ensures adherence to
OSHA/ANSI
standards and supports capital improvement and retrofit projects with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and build custom machine guarding systems, frames, brackets, and fixtures Perform MIG and TIG welding, grinding, and finishing for fabricated components Operate and set up plasma cutting, press brake, shear, and other metal fabrication equipment Collaborate with safety, maintenance, and engineering to plan and execute installations Create or interpret fabrication drawings and schematics; reverse-engineer components when needed Self-perform installations and modifications of guarding systems to ensure safety compliance Maintain documentation of builds and installations Contribute to safety improvements and ergonomic enhancements in production environments Provide technical input on capital project installations involving guarding or fabricated mechanical solutions Serve as a technical mentor to junior team members in fabrication and installation best practices
Required Skills & Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in welding, fabrication, or mechanical assembly roles Strong knowledge of
OSHA/ANSI
safety guarding standards and industrial safety practices Proficiency in MIG/TIG welding, metal fabrication, and use of plasma cutters Ability to work from blueprints, CAD drawings, or field measurements Mechanical aptitude with ability to design solutions with minimal guidance High school diploma or GED required; technical school or certifications preferred (e.g., AWS Welding Certification, Fabrication Certificate) Forklift/crane operation and rigging knowledge preferred Strong communication and teamwork skills Pay Structure (Hourly):
