Job Description

Job Title:
Assembler $16/hr 1st Shift Job Description This role focuses on assembling custom wood boxes according to detailed customer specifications using a variety of hand and power tools. You will work in a clean, fast-paced shop environment where you read measurements, operate tools safely, and follow written and verbal instructions to ensure accurate and timely production. Responsibilities Assemble wood boxes according to customer-prescribed specifications and quality standards. Read and interpret measurements accurately using a tape measure to ensure correct dimensions. Operate hand tools and power tools, including pneumatic nail guns, in a safe and efficient manner. Use tools such as band cutters, banders, and tape measures to prepare and assemble materials. Lift and move materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds as part of daily tasks. Stand for extended periods while performing assembly and general labor duties. Follow written and verbal instructions to complete assigned work orders and tasks. Fill out productivity sheets and shipping tags legibly and accurately to document work completed. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and efficiency. Collaborate with team members and support a steady production flow throughout the shift. Adhere to all safety guidelines when working with cutters, saws, nail guns, and other equipment. Essential Skills Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure. Experience using hand tools and power tools in a production or similar environment. Ability to operate a pneumatic nail gun weighing approximately 2-14 pounds safely and consistently. Capability to lift approximately 40 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to stand for extended periods during the shift. Skill in following written and verbal instructions with attention to detail. Ability to complete productivity sheets and shipping tags legibly. Comfort working around noise from cutters, saws, and nail guns. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in assembly, general labor, or manufacturing environments is beneficial. Familiarity with band cutters, banders, and similar shop tools is an advantage. Strong work ethic and reliability in a steady production setting. Willingness to work overtime when needed to support customer demand. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coal Valley, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
