Production Assembly Technician Job Description This role focuses on assembling and producing fuel cells used in the railroad industry and drones for aviation and military applications. You work in a modern, climate-controlled facility, performing mechanical assembly, batch mixing, and machine operations while following strict safety and quality standards. The position requires careful attention to detail, the ability to follow standard processes, and basic computer literacy to support testing and documentation activities. Responsibilities Perform batching and mixing operations, including accurate use of scales to measure materials. Carry out machine operations using appropriate hand tools and follow established procedures. Operate mechanical equipment safely and efficiently to support production goals. Perform detailed assembly operations for fuel cells and related components. Follow all safety protocols at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Record production and test data as specified, maintaining a high degree of accuracy and completeness. Keep the work area organized and clean in accordance with 5S standards. Perform duties that meet quality, part, and production specifications and requirements. Train on and routinely perform up to three Standard Processes as directed. Act as a positive, respectful team member who communicates clearly and accepts direction constructively. Communicate issues, concerns, and equipment or process problems promptly to support successful operations. Exercise independent judgment within primary job functions while adhering to procedures and standards. Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality, as being on time and present for work is critical in this position. Assume additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned to support production needs. Essential Skills At least 6 months of manufacturing experience in a production or assembly environment. Mechanical assembly experience, including working with production and fabrication processes. Ability to perform batch mixing and use scales accurately to measure materials. Experience with machine operation and basic mechanical equipment in a manufacturing setting. Basic computer literacy, including navigating spreadsheets, watching training videos, and working in test stations. Ability to perform quality inspection tasks and follow quality standards. Ability to see color clearly to ensure correct wiring and component identification. Good manual dexterity to handle small parts, wiring, and assembly tasks safely and efficiently. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience using small hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, screw drills, hand drills, snips, and dryers. At least 6 months of machine operation experience or strong willingness to learn machine operations. Comfort working with mechanical, production, and assembling tasks in a structured environment. Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset. Why Work Here? The environment follows 5S principles, emphasizing cleanliness, organization, and efficiency. You use mechanical equipment, hand tools, test stations, and computers as part of daily tasks, and you wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in line with safety protocols. An on-site gym is available for use before or after your shift, supporting a healthy and active lifestyle. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ann Arbor, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
