Welding Fabricator Job Title:
Welding Fabricator The Welding Fabricator:
You'll fit and weld custom stairs and railing to print — clean, strong, code-compliant welds on steel, stainless, and aluminum — turning cut parts into finished pieces our customers are proud to install. As Welding Fabricator, you're the hands that build what we sell. You'll work directly with our shop manager (Alberto) and the rest of the fabrication team to take fitted parts from the cut list to a finished, weld-inspected assembly, on schedule and to spec.

We are a 20+ employee fabrication shop with a 30+ year reputation for fabricating stairs - curved, spiral, and straight, as well as railing - for commercial and residential customers near and far using stainless, aluminum, and steel/iron. Compensation:
$23.00 per hour DOE Responsibilities - Fabrication & Welding (50% of your time): Fit and weld stringers, treads, guardrails, columns, and embed plates to shop drawings Select and apply the correct welding process (MIG, TIG, or stick) for the material and joint Work from cut lists and CAD/shop drawings to assemble parts accurately Sequence fit-up and welding to control heat distortion, especially on stainless and aluminum Responsibilities - Weld Quality (30% of your time): Produce welds that meet
AWS D1.1
structural welding code and Casco's finish standards Inspect your own welds for defects before handoff — undercut, porosity, incomplete fusion Grind and clean welds to the specified finish Flag any print or fit-up issue to Alberto before it becomes rework Responsibilities - Shop Support (20% of your time): Read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings independently Coordinate sequencing and priorities with the fabrication team Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding station Assist with material handling and machine setup as needed
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of structural or ornamental welding and fabrication experience Proficient in MIG and TIG welding Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings Experience welding steel, stainless, and aluminum Able to pass a weld test to
AWS D1.1
standard Valid Michigan driver's license
Preferred Experiences:
