09/02/2026 Job Description Job Description Delta Steel is seeking motivated Welder/Fabricators with experience in structural steel fabrication. Depending on experience and skill level, team members will perform layout, fitting, and welding of structural steel components while working from fabrication drawings and approved welding procedures. Responsibilities (All Levels) Safely fabricate and assemble structural steel components. Read a tape measure accurately and perform basic math calculations. Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, and cutting equipment safely. Set up welding equipment according to approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Perform MIG welding in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment as required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Level 1 - Welder/Fabricator Qualifications & Skills Read and interpret basic fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and dimensions. Lay out, align, and fit basic structural steel components according to drawings. Tack weld assemblies in preparation for final welding. Remove burrs, high spots, and bevel edges using grinders, hand tools, and cutting torches. Verify material size, length, shape, and orientation against fabrication drawings. Level 2 - Welder/Fabricator Qualifications & Skills - Includes all Level 1 qualifications, plus: Read and interpret more complex structural steel fabrication drawings. Lay out and fit beams with connection plates, shear tabs, stiffeners, and pitched members. Lay out and fit basic columns. Maintain dimensional accuracy during fit-up and assembly. Work with minimal supervision while maintaining quality standards. Level 3 - Welder/Fabricator Qualifications & Skills - Includes all Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications, plus: Read and interpret complex structural steel fabrication drawings. Lay out, fit, and assemble complex structural steel components including columns, beams, stairs, handrails, and other components. Perform complete joint penetration (CJP) welds (full-penetration welds) when required. Inspect completed welds for fusion, porosity, undercut, and overall weld quality. Verify all material dimensions and completed assemblies meet fabrication drawings and quality requirements.
