Job Description
Steel Fabricator - MIG Welding Belton, Missouri Full-Time | $25.00-$30.00+ per hour Put Your Steel Fabrication Experience to Work Custom Steel Manufacturing is hiring an experienced metal fabricator for our production team in Belton, Missouri. This is a hands-on shop position for someone who can take a fabrication drawing, lay out the material, fit the components, and help produce an accurate, well-built finished product.
Approximately 80% of this role involves steel fabrication, fitting, and assembly. MIG welding accounts for approximately 20% of the position and is performed as required during the fabrication process. Primary Responsibilities Review blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications before beginning work. Lay out steel using accurate measurements, markings, and reference points.
Fit, align, and assemble heavy or structural steel components. Operate applicable shop and fabrication equipment safely. Complete MIG welds needed to finish fabricated assemblies.
Grind welds and clean or prepare completed pieces as required. Check finished work for correct measurements, fit, and overall quality.
Identify fabrication issues and make appropriate adjustments.
Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and orderly. Follow established safety practices and use all required personal protective equipment . Required Experience and Skills At least five years of professional steel fabrication experience. Previous experience fabricating heavy or structural steel.
Ability to work accurately from blueprints and detailed shop drawings. Proficiency in measuring, material layout, fitting, and assembly. Hands-on MIG welding experience. Ability to complete assigned work with limited supervision. Reliable attendance and consistent attention to quality. Ability to work effectively with other members of the production team. Ability to lift as much as 50 pounds and stand for the majority of the shift. TIG welding experience is helpful but is not required. Pay and Incentives Starting pay of $25.00-$30.00+ per hour based on experience and skill level. Overtime opportunities based on workload and production requirements. Sign-on bonus. Employee referral bonus. Regular Work Hours Monday through Friday8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional overtime may be offered based on project workload and customer deadlines.
