Job Description

About Ocean Aero:
Ocean Aero is an award-winning US company that has created the world's first and only environmentally powered Autonomous Underwater and Surface Vehicle (AUSV). Ocean Aero's autonomous marine robot, the Triton, operates exclusively on wind and solar energy and performs long endurance missions on the ocean surface with the ability to dive below the waves for underwater operations. The Triton uses a complex array of custom-built sensors, marinized electronics and software systems to operate, sense and communicate in the environment.
Role Description:
The temporary Assembly Technician will be responsible for assembling, testing, and installing mechanical and electrical assemblies into the vehicles. The temporary Assembly Technician will use various assembly and testing tools to build sub-systems based on instructions. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, self-motivated team player with a genuine interest in marine robotics and electro-mechanical systems. Experience with autonomous systems with electrical mechanical assemblies and a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles is desired. This role will report to the Director of Operations.
Role Responsibilities:
Assemble, test, and install mechanical and electrical assemblies Use various assembly and testing tools to build sub-systems based on instructions Install sub-systems into the vehicle Follow established assembly instructions and interface with engineers to provide feedback on improvements Read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings and schematics Install electrical connectors to modules, mounts, line replaceable units, and service low pressure hydraulic systems Run cables and perform maintenance and repairs Use existing testing scripts to QC assemblies Test vehicles after completion Maintain a clean work area and is responsible for designated tools
Role Requirements:
General mechanical assembly skills Ability to work independently and be an effective team player Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Self-motivated and consistent Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to differentiate between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components Must have excellent hand-eye coordination Must have dexterity in order to assemble products or machines as directed Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of work experience and education Must be able to read, write, and speak English with excellent understanding Ability to handle active work including lifting up to 55 pounds at a time without assistance, stretching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking, and standing for considerable lengths of time Manual dexterity to assemble, disassemble, adjust, and relocate components US Citizenship required Ability to obtain and maintain a
