Structural Steel Fabricator
- 2nd Shift Mon

Fri:
2:30p- 11p weekends as needed Piedmont Metals is seeking a skilled and dependable Structural Steel Welder/Fabricator to join our production team.

This position requires the ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment while maintaining accuracy, productivity, and a clean work area. Key Responsibilities Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications. Perform Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) in accordance withAWS D1.1
standards. Measure, cut, fit, and assemble structural steel components according to project specifications. Perform layout and fit-up of structural steel components prior to welding. Operate welding machines, grinders, saws, hand tools, power tools, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently. Inspect completed work for dimensional accuracy, weld quality, and compliance with specifications. Identify and address fabrication or fit-up issues before and during welding. Maintain quality standards and ensure completed work meets structural and safety requirements. Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in good condition. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Perform other production and fabrication duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols. Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements and calculations. Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment. Ability to perform Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) or successfully complete company welding testing. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred High School Diploma or equivalent. One (1)+ year of structural steel welding or fabrication experience. Experience with Flux Core (FCAW) welding in a structural steel or manufacturing environment. Knowledge ofAWS D1.1

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols. Knowledge of structural steel fabrication and welding processes. Skilled in measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembling steel components. Familiarity with grinders, saws, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment. Basic math and measurement skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to troubleshoot basic fabrication and fit-up issues. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Reliable, safety-conscious, and production-focused approach to work. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work throughout the shift. Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment. Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. Ability to work in varying temperatures and manufacturing environments with exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, sparks, and welding fumes. Ability to perform repetitive welding and fabrication tasks while maintaining quality and productivity.
