JPOSITION SUMMARY

The Production Assembler III is an experienced and skilled production employee responsible for performing complex mechanical and electrical assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and inspection of airport lighting components and systems. The Production Assembler III is capable of working independently with limited supervision and is expected to interpret technical documentation, drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions. This position supports multiple areas of Production and may assist Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering with prototype, special-order, product deviation, and other non-standard builds. The Production Assembler III also serves as a resource to less-experienced employees and may assist with training and mentoring on approved production processes. This position does not have formal supervisory responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential job duties for this position include the following. Other duties may be performed as assigned or required. Assembly and Production Perform complex mechanical and electrical assemblies of airport lighting products and systems. Perform wiring, soldering, mechanical assembly, and other specialized production processes. Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, schematics, bills of material, specifications, and assembly instructions. Complete complex assemblies accurately and efficiently with limited supervision. Use specialized hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, fixtures, and production machinery. Work across multiple product lines and production processes. Support prototype, special-order, engineering-change, and product deviation builds as assigned. Verify proper fit, function, alignment, wiring, and workmanship throughout the assembly process. Quality Assurance and Testing Perform in-process and final quality inspections. Perform functional testing of completed assemblies in accordance with established procedures. Identify defective components, workmanship issues, or discrepancies and determine appropriate action within established procedures. Document inspection and testing results accurately. Identify recurring quality concerns and communicate them to the Production Manager, Quality, or Engineering as appropriate. Support continuous quality improvement initiatives. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving Troubleshoot routine mechanical and electrical assembly issues. Identify potential causes of defects, assembly problems, or testing failures. Make appropriate adjustments or corrections within established procedures and training. Determine when an issue requires assistance or escalation to Production Management, Quality, or Engineering. Assist in resolving production issues to minimize delays and maintain product quality. Engineering and Process Support Work with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering on prototype, special-order, product deviation, and process improvement activities. Provide feedback regarding assembly methods, tooling, work instructions, and production processes. Assist with testing and evaluation of new or modified products and processes. Provide practical production input regarding manufacturability and assembly challenges. Support implementation of approved process improvements and engineering changes. Training and Mentoring Assist with training and mentoring Level I and Level II employees on approved production processes. Demonstrate proper assembly techniques, tool use, quality standards, and safe work practices. Serve as a technical resource to less-experienced employees within areas of demonstrated competency. Provide guidance and assistance while maintaining appropriate communication with the Production Manager. Materials and Documentation Verify materials and components against work instructions, drawings, and bills of material. Maintain accurate production, inspection, and testing documentation. Identify and report material shortages, incorrect components, or material discrepancies. Properly handle and protect components and finished products. Maintain an organized and efficient workstation. Safety Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and required work practices. Properly use required personal protective equipment. Follow established safety procedures when using tools, machinery, and testing equipment. Report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, and safety issues promptly. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and material utilization. Participate in continuous improvement activities. Provide constructive feedback regarding production processes and assembly methods. Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned or required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Production Assembler III has no formal supervisory responsibilities . This position may provide training, technical guidance, and mentoring to less-experienced employees but does not have authority to hire, terminate, discipline, or conduct formal employee performance evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical, vocational, electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing training is preferred. Previous manufacturing or assembly experience required. Demonstrated proficiency in multiple production processes. Experience with mechanical and/or electrical assembly preferred. Experience with wiring, soldering, testing, or troubleshooting preferred. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret detailed work instructions, assembly documentation, safety procedures, equipment manuals, technical drawings, and schematics. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, Engineering, Quality, and other departments. Ability to accurately complete production, inspection, testing, and quality documentation. Ability to communicate technical issues and production concerns clearly and effectively. Mathematical Skills Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure and other measuring devices. Ability to work with inches, millimeters, fractions, and other units of measurement. Ability to calculate and verify quantities, measurements, and production requirements. Ability to interpret measurements and tolerances as required by drawings and specifications. Reasoning and Problem-Solving Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and verbal instructions. Ability to identify and troubleshoot routine mechanical and electrical assembly problems. Ability to identify potential causes of defects, testing failures, and workmanship issues. Ability to make decisions within established procedures and guidelines. Ability to recognize when an issue requires escalation to Production Management, Quality, or Engineering. Ability to analyze problems and identify practical solutions within the scope of the position. Technical Skills Demonstrated mechanical and/or electrical aptitude. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of material. Proficiency with a variety of hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and production equipment. Ability to perform functional testing using established procedures and test equipment. Ability to safely perform wiring, soldering, mechanical assembly, and other assigned production processes. Ability to learn and work with new products, tools, equipment, and production processes. Computer Skills Basic to intermediate computer or tablet skills. Ability to enter production, inspection, and testing information electronically. Ability to access digital work instructions, drawings, procedures, and other production documentation. Familiarity with manufacturing software, barcode scanning systems, or other production technology preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand and work for extended periods. Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with assembly work. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and production machinery. Ability to lift, carry, and move materials required for the position, including items weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance or team lifting when required. Ability to wear required PPE. Ability to safely perform assigned job duties in a manufacturing environment.

Advancement to Production Assembler IV - Senior/Technical Assembler is based on demonstrated competency and performance rather than length of service alone.
